how she works
Monica’s therapeutic style is warm and direct, combining empathy with practical tools for exploration and growth. She takes an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from psychodynamic, existential, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) theories. Together, you will explore how your past influences your present, uncover thought patterns and beliefs, and develop a deeper understanding of the different parts of yourself.
Monica specializes in working with clients navigating life transitions, including starting college, beginning a new job, moving to a new place, or adjusting after a breakup. She also works with individuals facing interpersonal and relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, anxiety, stress, and grief or loss. With her experience as a clinical researcher, Monica is particularly attuned to the unique stressors faced by people working in science, healthcare, and academia.
In sessions, Monica prioritizes creating a supportive space where clients can explore any topic on their minds. She approaches therapy with cultural sensitivity and a deep respect for the individual experiences and values that shape her clients’ lives.
